Whenever I am in this area I have to stop here. Love the place, the food and the people.

Typical truck stop diner. Nothing really stood out other than this sauce! Put it on your potatoes, mandatory.

Nice little diner. I don't think the cook believes in using any seasoning because I think these were the most bland enchiladas I've ever eaten. So disappointed. How can you fail so badly? But you take what the road gives you.

We stopped at this roadside cafe for lunch and were delightfully surprised at the quality of food we ordered. There is simply no way anyone can go away feeling hungry as the servings are very generous and well prepared. The place obviously is a local favorite as just about every table was full when we arrived, but we didn't have to wait very long. Great place to take a family for a bite to eat.

I love their breakfast I usually get their chilaquiles with chorizo is a little colorful but trust me is also delicious.

Lol . With all the hype I was sorely disappointed.All the reviews say this is the place to eat bbq in Santa Maria. I can tell you I would have been better off at THE HABIT BURGER, across the hwy.The server was nice but the food wasn’t. I ordered their famous tri-tip (medium) 17.99 plus tax ... basically 20.00.I got four thin strips of beef jerky basically , an old , tiny potato and some watery vegetables mix along with a ranch soaked bowl of lettuce for a salad....Not cool. But that’s AMERICA TODAY....All hype no play ....40$ later and I’m still hungry.😬

Like a Denny's except cost more and the coffee is worse. Not exactly bad bit not like oh this was a good choice more like meh

This is the BEST takeout that we’ve eaten EVER! We rarely order restaurant food to-go anymore because it’s usually so far from acceptable. Pappy’s, however, went far ABOVE AND BEYOND! Thanks to the staff members and the chefs! This is now on my list of “MUST STOP HERE” places when we pass by! Anyone that knocks this place has likely never tried it, or is just that big of a complainer. NO REGRETS from getting food here at Pappy’s!

Ive tryd them twice (dinner/breafast) being next too, the only truck stop there in Santa Maria.. Once would of been enough, over priced for the quality of food well not much quality or flavor.. place looks stuck in 40's.. and at $3.50 for a ice tea been would of been nice to get more then one glass..

This restaurant is one of those cozy truck stop diners that is known for comfort food. Eating here I got some good recommendations from Patrick but from the other server(s) I honestly would have liked more attendance (Patrick was not my server). It's a little hard to get attention here for a solo diner. The food was good and I enjoyed my breakfast (Great gravy) and the dessert was delicious, try the cherry pie with ice cream (though the milk shakes are kind of runny.) Overall, cozy, good food, okay service.

great food and person are friendly... waitress staff very easy on the eyes. small diner but big on taste. had dinner and breakfast both meals were very good. the coffee was a little strong for my taste but good and the tea was old but it was ok to drink.

Stopped here based in reviews and not disappointed! The food was amazing and the service was absolutely great! We got the burgers and they were perfect! Kids got milkshakes and loved them! Husband bought sauces and spices that are so good! Great parking for rv's as it's next to a truck stop and right off of the 101. This place has history!!! Don't miss out on this great place!

I stop here every time I park next door, but today is Sunday & it was very busy. The restaurant had a lot of personnel for today, but I sat here waiting too long for just coffee refills. My waitress didn't check on me regularly like the weekdays. It seems that they focused more on the larger groups because I noticed that most of the guests that were 2 or less didn't get as much attention. I love their food, that is why I love stopping here but they need to improve on their service especially on Sundays.

I give 5 stars sparingly. Pappy's deserves it! A fun and festive place. My husband loves chicken fried steak and he loved it. I had tri-tip. The food was hot, quick and so yummy. We will visit again. Great wait staff and clean establishment! Just go, you won't be disappointed.

35 min for steak and eggs. Asked for eggs over easy like the yellow runny got over cooked eggs. Then wanted steak medium rare it was over cooked to all brown in middle. Wutch equals well done. But the home fries was good. Might be having bad day.

Great food. Fair pricing, in my opinion. Big portions, and prepared to order. Staff was helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I will stop again when traveling thru.Shout out to the waitress that went above and beyond, to make my meal happen without a hitch.

The clam chowder was served a little lukewarm, but the flavor was good and it had large chunks of bacon and clam. I ordered the red snapper based on a photo I saw on yelp. As a trucker, there are very few opportunities for eating fish, so when I saw it, I was set on ordering it. It was not on the menu, but it was written on a black chalkboard hanging up, along with salmon. The fish was flaky and tasted fresh.

I have visited this place 7x in the last two years .very hardly comfort food .had the boneless chicken breast and mash potatoes and vegetables yum yum tri tip is good as well prices are fair..just some time service needs to be a little more there game and I wish they clean the carpets more often. But food for quality very good fours Stars all day long and its right off the 101

A fairly old establishment that makes a solid breakfast. I had the pappy’s breakfast plate and every food item was great. Even the biscuit was soft/fluffy. The only thing I didn’t like was the small men’s bathroom. It was both a bathroom and a closet for the kitchen crew to change clothes.... so there’s that

Several times a year I park my truck at the Chevron next door while waiting to get my next load and try to get into Pappy's for a meal. Great food and fair pricing but the atmosphere is what really brings me back!

Food was great but service was terribly slow. Be prepared to not be in a rush... to be seated, to get your order taken, to get your drink refilled, to get your check, or to pay.

Long breakfast counter, which was great for me eating alone, but generally tons of tables so even on a Sunday morning, I sat right away. Part of that is also the buzz of the staff who work together so well that things him along.Only feedback was that I had food envy; I ordered a breakfast burrito which was honestly not more than an soft-egg-scramble wrapped in a flour tortilla. Looking at the other meals coming out, I could see my error. I should have ordered something more traditional for a breakfast dinner, so really, I blame myself. Next time, bacon&eggs:)

Fantastic beef Chimichanga. I was stuffed after eating it. Thought that some room would be left for desert, forget it. Staff are friendly and pleasant. Restaurant is clean and really well done up. Loved the style and pictures on the walls. If you are looking to stop for a meal or something quick you will enjoy this place. And the prices are really reasonable making this a five star diner for me. A real change from the corporate diners on the highway.

It's a home style restaurant, and they serve our local Beans there. (Pinquitos) Good food. Great workers, great views. Convenient too.

Steak and fried shrimp with vegetables and mush potatoes. The fried shrimp was delicious as well as the steak. The only down side was the sauce, it was too watery. The vegetables were good they tasted fresh. The tortilla soup is good.

Try the chicken fryed steak. I've ordered one all over town. And hands down this is the best in town. Must have 😊

Friendly, attentive staff. Welcoming environment. Caesar salad was delicious, dressing was tangy and slightly peppery. The steak in my husbands burrito was amazing. He said the guac was the best he had ever had(and he usually doesnt like guac, lol). I had the chicken parmigiana and the marinara sauce was the best I've ever had in my life. If I ever get the chance to come back, I wont pass up the opportunity. Definitely recommend.

Best tri tip sandwiches I've ever had, 10/10 next time I'm in the area ill order here again.

Got a to-go order.. The Chimichanga was awesome and Hot off the grill. My partner got the Charbroiled boneless chicken with mashed potatoes and vegetables and he said it was Good. Fast & fresh

I had a big breakfast - eggs, meat, hash browns. Polite and efficient service. Not too crowded a late morning weekday. Asked for 'crisp' hash browns and got them a little charred on the outside and a hot but not totally cooked inside. (Better than some places do them, but not perfect.) It is an 'open' diner - no privacy; no way to avoid overhearing the table next to me. But it was not offensive. And the food was very good. I'll probably try it the next time I need a fast good meal in the area. Probably OK for a business meal if you don't need any privacy.

Orale Pappy's!! Been the place to get some bomb ass mashed potatoes and a good home cooked style meal. Not open 24hrs like I thought though so beware haha

This restaurant is in a good location, the staff is very friendly and accommodating, but the food falls way short of my expectations! My salad , had old lettuce, and was not a overall good product, straight out the bag, nothing extra ! The veggies on my plate were ok but no extra seasoning, but the chicken fried steak was awful and made me sick , it was definitely fried in old grease and could not be eaten ! Management please monitor your kitchen better, I hate spending my money on a meal that is sub-par!

Never had a bad experience here. Good tasting food and large decent quantities. The country music is awesome the customer service is ok. Breakfast is always delicious. Definitely one of my go to places when nothing else sounds good.

Their hours have changed because of Covid but they are open for dine in.

I had the chicken fry, eggs and hashbrowns. It was delightful. Megan was our waitress and she did an amazing job checking to make sure we had everything we needed. Got the tips to go..Thank you Pappy's

We came here for lunch while we were in the area based upon the reviews. The restaurant is next to a truck stop which usually means good food. When you walk in the first thing you notice is that it is a basic old time diner which suits me fine. Even though they were crowded we were seated right away. My friend asked the server about the soups that they had and the server brought her a sample of the chicken tortilla soup. It was full of vegetables and very good.

Down home country local cowboy, 50 to 70's style America, parking, just off hwy, truck stop
